Ridley Scott jumps on board crowdsourcing [NEWS] (LC: @emilyrkelley)

Ridley Scotts new project invites you to submit a film of your day and he'll edit a 'time capsule' documentary out of it. The mechanic sounds more interesting than what the outcome would be. Which i guess is the problem when doing anything user generated - typically only 1% of your audience will contribute content to your cause - maybe having Ridley Scott at the helm of the project will generate more than that. But i doubt it - the theme's too open and needs a little more of a hook to make sure that you're not wasting that 1% on trivial shit. 'Recreate a day where something awesome happened to you' 'What were you doing when...' or something that shakes you out of your norm like 'Film your typical day but wear your clothes inside out'.

Ridley Scott will make whatever's submitted watchable, but isn't 'watchable' another word for mediochre? To me, the project's too open and needs some guidence to steer the content slightly.

Been on holiday for a couple of weeks. Bex and I went to the Island of Niue eating coconut crab with claws as big as bex's hand and exploring the home of my ancestors. Blown away by it's beauty - more photos and update soon.
